41152144My Review:

An ominous and beautifully written fairy tale filled with touches of mythology and folklore.

Two little darling twin boys and mother who loves them immensely.

Everything else I was reading took a backseat to this scrumptious tale. I just couldn’t stop reading it. It has an addictive quality and the author’s skillful writing and magical descriptions pulled me right into the heart of the story. And it does have heart!

The mom of newborn twins, Lauren’s intense love for her boys shines throughout the book. She took me through many emotions and while she was surrounded by a cloud of mystery. I wanted to believe her. Real or imagined ? This is what I kept asking myself.

I also enjoyed the police-procedural side of the story. The clues, the investigation and a determined officer added to the tension and intrigue. An intoxicating and atmospheric journey.

Are these little darlings her babies?

Available April 30,2019. I pre-ordered a copy (I prefer the UK version) for my personal favorites shelf!

“Mother knows best” takes on a sinister new meaning in this unsettling thriller perfect for fans of Neil Gaiman and Grimms’ Fairy Tales.

Everyone says Lauren Tranter is exhausted, that she needs rest. And they’re right; with newborn twins, Morgan and Riley, she’s never been more tired in her life. But she knows what she saw: that night, in her hospital room, a woman tried to take her babies and replace them with her own…creatures. Yet when the police arrived, they saw no one. Everyone, from her doctor to her husband, thinks she’s imagining things.

A month passes. And one bright summer morning, the babies disappear from Lauren’s side in a park. But when they’re found, something is different about them. The infants look like Morgan and Riley―to everyone else. But to Lauren, something is off. As everyone around her celebrates their return, Lauren begins to scream, These are not my babies.

Determined to bring her true infant sons home, Lauren will risk the unthinkable. But if she’s wrong about what she saw…she’ll be making the biggest mistake of her life.

Compulsive, creepy, and inspired by some our darkest fairy tales, Little Darlings will have you checking―and rechecking―your own little ones. Just to be sure. Just to be safe.

  1. Wonderful review! I was on the fence about this book but I’ve seen a lot of good reviews might need to give it a go in my spare time! LOL!

  2. I really enjoyed this one, Holly. I finished that night I started it; it was such a compulsive read. It was so hard to know what was real and what wasn’t. I felt so badly for Lauren too.

    • Yes, what I loved too is that she had so much love for them she would have done whatever she thought she needed to. This was like a dark fairy tale-ish read for me 💕💕

    • This is the UK one I think. I pre ordered from Book Depository so I could have my own copy, but I think this might be the cover..not sure? 🤔
