Thank you Kim for the invite!
~My Review~ 5 STARS
Heart-stirring from start to finish!
When I want to get lost in a book, I can’t think of anything more addicting than K.L. Slater’s psychological novels, and this one did not disappoint (my fourth one). The Secret is full of sneak peeks into other people’s lives and motivations for doing some less than honorable things. I did not see the end coming, and it couldn’t have been more perfect!
The author created some unique characters with distinct personalities with the two sisters Louise and Alice. Louise always looks picture perfect in her shiny heels and blown-out hair, but Alice senses that more is going on with her than meets the eye. Louise has always thought of her sister as a “Little Miss Goody Two-Shoes” and has accused her of being favored by their late mum.
Alice develops an interest in a man on a tram that travels past her flat every morning. He smiles and waves up at her ( we could say she is his girl in the window) and she begins to wonder if they could meet someday. When she confides in Louise about him, she calls him her fancy man on the tram. Do you think they’ll have a chance encounter? I really want to spill, BUT I can’t!
I really became invested in the characters, including Louise’s son, Archie. He is only eight years old, but has a secret that could change the happily ever after ending. Ding dong.
Loved every second of this pacey, twisty page-turner!
~Book Description~
You think you can trust the ones you love most.
But what if one secret could make you question everything?
Every day, a woman like Louise passes you in the street: elegant, confident, determined. But underneath, she’s struggling.
She doesn’t know her sister, Alice, has been scared of leaving the house since their mother died.
She doesn’t know when Alice babysits her little boy, Archie, he sometimes sees things he shouldn’t.
She doesn’t know Archie has a secret.
A secret that could send cracks through the heart of Louise’s carefully constructed life…
The most gripping psychological thriller you’ll read this year from the Kindle top five bestselling author K.L. Slater. If you love The Girl on the Train or Gone Girl, you’ll be absolutely hooked.
