My Review…
A famous romance writer, Helena Ross has one last story to tell….and her guilty conscience needs to confess.
Helena is rich, famous, and hiding something that is tearing her apart. I found the story compelling and enjoyed the three POV’s as well as the excerpts from Helena’s last novel. The story builds slowly and the suspense simmers as the author hints at why Helena needs to confess and what really happened.
I really enjoyed the book, but felt it lagged a bit and was not all that suspenseful and somewhat repetitive. Heartbreaking and tragic in many ways. Worth the read, but don’t expect a fast paced thriller.
3.5 stars
Book Description…
Four years ago, I lied. I stood in front of the police, my friends and family, and made up a story, my best one yet. And all of them believed me.
I wasn’t surprised. Telling stories is what made me famous. Fifteen bestsellers. Millions of fans. Fame and fortune.
Now, I have one last story to write. It’ll be my best one yet, with a jaw-dropping twist that will leave them stunned and gasping for breath.
They say that sticks and stones will break your bones, but this story? It will be the one that kills me.
This book is not a romance. It is contemporary fiction, but very suspenseful in nature. It is about a famous romance author and a dark secret she keeps.
Great review Holly; I’m hoping to start this one later this week!

More tragedy than thriller then. Still sounds interesting though and I think it’s ok if you don’t expect it to be anything else.. Nice first review of the year!

I’m not sure why I didn’t enjoy it as much as all the 5 star reviewers, but I’m glad I read it. Thanks Yvo!

I think I’d feel the same about the book especially because I tend to struggle with slow paces. Sorry this one didn’t quite meet your expectations Holly.
